Analysis
Red Wolf personnel have intimate experience with the GOTHIC thermal
hydraulic code including extensive application, benchmarking, code
development and testing, underlying constitutive model development,
user support, and delivery of training. Listed below are a few of the
areas in which Red Wolf Associates consultants have previously utilized
GOTHIC:
- Analyzing containment
thermal hydraulic response following postulated accidents for PWR
containments as well as Mark I, II, and III BWR containments, including
benchmarking against older codes
- Performing room heat up
analyses for various purposes such as equipment qualification, Appendix
R fire analysis, and secondary containment drawdown
- Modeling detailed piping
systems to determine NPSH, investigate gas intrusion in safety systems,
and estimate fire protection system operability
- Developing detailed reactor
coolant system models to calculate time to boil following loss of RHR
cooling, develop time to boil curves, and estimate long term mass and
energy releases for both PWRs and BWRs for containment analyses
Our staff is also familiar with other thermal hydraulic codes such as
RETRAN, CONTEMPT, CONTRANS, COPATTA, and LOCTIC.
Additionally, the personnel of Red Wolf Associates have extensive
experience determining atmospheric dispersion factors with codes such
as ARCON96, PAVAN, and XOQDOQ, assessing control room habitability due
to postulated releases of hazardous chemicals utilizing programs like
HABIT, and performing radiological shielding analyses with computer
programs MicroShield and QADMOD-GP.
